Necessary (always active)
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (technically required).
- hfv_consent (cookie, 12 months): stores your choice on this page and a random identifier for the consent record.
- .AspNetCore.Antiforgery.* (cookie, session): protects the forms (contact, comments) from misuse.
- .AspNetCore.Mvc.CookieTempDataProvider (cookie, session): briefly carries feedback after a form is submitted.
- hfv-visitor (local storage): random identifier so that likes and reactions count once per visitor. The server stores only a hash, no IP address. Stays until you clear your browser storage.
- hfvPushOptInDismissed (local storage): remembers that you dismissed the push notification hint.
Consent record
When you make or change your choice, we store as proof the random identifier from the hfv_consent cookie, the time, the version of this cookie policy and the selected categories. We store no IP address and no browser identifier. The data is deleted after three years. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR (duty to demonstrate consent).
Statistics (with consent only)
We use Google Analytics 4 by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It tells us which pages are read so we can improve the website. This sets cookies (for example _ga and _ga_<id>, up to two years) and transfers data such as page views, device and approximate location to Google. IP anonymisation is enabled. A transfer to the USA is possible, based on the adequacy decision (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG (consent). Without consent, Google Analytics is neither loaded nor run. If you withdraw consent, we delete this website’s analytics cookies and stop the measurement. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
Maps (with consent only)
On the “Contact” page we show a map from OpenStreetMap (OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom). Loading the map transfers your IP address to OpenStreetMap. Without consent we show a placeholder; “Load map” loads the map once without changing your setting. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG.
Other features
- Comments: name, optional email address and comment text are stored, the IP address is not. They are published only after approval by the editors.
- Push notifications: only after you explicitly enable them in your browser. Your browser creates a subscription address at the push service of your browser vendor.
- Fonts, icons and scripts are served from our own server, not from third parties.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
